Horseradish are perennial and roots are used in recipes, and have countless medicinal uses. Peeling a fresh horseradish root reveals a white flesh that can be grated to add a kick to many dishes. exceptionally people consume the roots only, but the leaves are also edible. Horseradish packs a nutritional punch, is a natural antibacterial and helps boost circulation while combating inflammation. Many consider the herb a super food, as it also contains compounds called glucosinolates which are know to have cancer fighting properties. As always, do your homework.

Planting in the Spring will yield usable roots by the Fall. Hardy in zones 3-9, horseradish grows 2-3’ tall and prefers full sunlight.
