Freshly collected Red Stem Malabar Spinach. This a sought-after weather vining type of spinach. It is as valuable as an ornamental plant as much as an edible delight.
Leaves are extremely abundant! Not on overly aggressive or invasive vine though. I have literally stood in my garden and picked these leaves for 30 minutes straight and you couldn't tell that I took any! You don't need countless plants to make an abundance of leaves.
This vine gives a nice surprise of charming pink berries that turn black about mid Summer. These are the seeds and can be collected and used for food coloring or natural dye.
The taste is similar to swiss chard. This spinach is premier used in soups, stir fries, and baked goods.
