Sopowerful is a Dutch non-profit, with the mission 'solar where it matters most'. We are registered in the Netherlands as a foundation and recognised as 'ANBI' (official public benefit organisation).
Since our start in 2019 we have implemented over 40 solar power systems in Malawi and Tanzania.
Our projects consist of implementing impactful, solar-powered systems which make a long-term impact by providing clean and reliable electricity that empowers better healthcare, education, WASH or irrigation. Through our projects, we contribute most directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.

Clean, accessible water for all is an essential part of the world we want to live in.
Our core focus is creating significant and long-term impact. An ambitious goal, considering the challenging context, including specific challenges such as pandemics, cyclones, fuel scarcity.
One of the things we are most proud of is the dedicated, diverse and resilient team we have managed to build over the last years. With boots on the ground in both Malawi and Tanzania and support based in Europe, we manage to operate lean-and-mean and pursue our mission in the most effective way possible.
Sopowerful does not depend on a small number of large funders or stakeholders, but on funding through a growing number of Partnerships with companies and other non-profits. In addition we rely on donations from individuals through Crowdfunding.
