THE NEED

Before the implementation of the solar power system, Momella Clinic experienced frequent power outages that disrupted medical services, damaged equipment, and delayed patient care. The unreliable electricity supply impacted the efficiency of the laboratory, the storage of medications, and the overall diagnostic and treatment capabilities of the clinic. These challenges hindered the clinic’s ability to deliver timely and effective healthcare to the community

The solution

A 29.43 kWp solar power system with 44 kWh battery storage was installed at Momella Clinic. This system provides a reliable and sustainable source of electricity, ensuring uninterrupted power supply for medical equipment, laboratory operations, and essential services. The project has eliminated dependency on the national grid and enhanced the clinic’s capacity to deliver quality healthcare.

Impact

The solar power installation at Momella Clinic has greatly enhanced its healthcare services by providing reliable electricity. This improvement allows efficient laboratory operations, swift eye clinic diagnoses, optimal medication storage, and expanded diagnostic capabilities with a new x-ray machine. The physiotherapy department now benefits from uninterrupted power for advanced treatments. Overall, the solar system has eliminated power outages, equipment damage, and patient delays. This project contributes to the SDGs 3 and 7.
