The need

Before electrification, the clinic faced challenges in delivering healthcare services, especially at night. The lack of reliable lighting posed safety risks for both patients and staff, limiting the clinic’s operational capacity after dark. Additionally, the absence of electricity restricted the establishment of a pharmacy and laboratory, making it difficult to expand healthcare offerings to the community.

The solution

The installation consists of a photovoltaic solar (3kWp) and lithium battery storage (5kWh) system which enables functioning of the clinic at night. The square in front of the clinic is illuminated by three freestanding solar lights.

Impact

Solar electrification at the clinic has enhanced healthcare services, benefiting over 700 patients monthly. The installation of a solar system ensures reliable nighttime lighting, enabling the clinic to operate safely after dark and improving patient care and staff safety. The addition of a scanning machine further enhances diagnostic capabilities, facilitating more comprehensive healthcare provision in the community. The project contributes to SDGs 3 and 7.
