THE NEED

Before the installation of the solar power system, Dzaleka CDSS faced numerous challenges due to frequent power outages. These disruptions hindered the use of modern educational technologies, affected examination schedules, and increased electricity costs. The lack of reliable power also limited the use of computers, projectors, and other essential educational tools, negatively impacting the overall learning experience.

The solution

A 10.80 kWp solar power system with a 10 kWh battery was installed at Dzaleka CDSS. This system provides a stable and reliable source of electricity, enabling the use of computers, projectors, and other modern educational technologies. The integration of solar energy into the school's infrastructure has ensured uninterrupted power supply, reduced electricity bills, and allowed for better allocation of funds towards educational resources.

Impact

The solar power installation has had an impact on Dzaleka CDSS. The reliable power supply has eliminated the disruptions caused by frequent blackouts, particularly during crucial examination periods. Students and teachers now enjoy uninterrupted learning, with access to computers, projectors, and other modern educational tools. The reduced electricity bills have allowed the school to allocate more funds towards educational resources, further enhancing the learning experience. Additionally, the integration of solar energy into the curriculum provides hands-on learning experiences in science and sustainability. The solar energy powers science laboratories, classrooms, and electronic devices, ensuring smooth operations and adequate lighting for learning. This project contributes to the SDGs 4 and 7.
